
Phoebe Juma, MBChB, Mmed, MSc
Phoebe is a consultant physician and infectious diseases specialist working at Kenyatta National Hospital which is a large teaching and referral hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. She is the current Head of the Infectious Disease Unit at the facility. She is also a 2022-2023 GHES (Global Health Equity Scholars) fellow with Yale University. She is interested in research in adult infectious diseases prevalent in East Africa including pneumonia, HIV, malaria and tuberculosis. Her current research project is centered on implementation of a clinical algorithm for the management of community acquired pneumonia in a high HIV burden setting. She is also involved in antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) projects including development of local guidelines for treatment of infections an educating health workers on AMS.
